Billie Ray Adams
CARTHAGE — Billy Ray Adams, 75, of Greenville, formerly of Beckville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at Hawthorne Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage, with Bro. Bruce Will officiating. Burial follows in Langley Cemetery in Beckville.
The family receives friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville. A visitation is scheduled from noon to service time Monday at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Carthage.
He was born May 10, 1931, in Beckville, to Andrew Millard and Lola Mae Metcalf Adams. He was in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired electrician with Raytheon and was owner/operator of BR Dozier Service. He was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Marc Adams; granddaughter, Lt. Holly Adams; two brothers, Aubry Adams and J.R. Adams; and two sisters, Cozette Adams Roper and Nevalou Adams Olsen.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Adams Allen of Cooper; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Clayton Smoot of Paris, and Billie Lynn and Brad Abell of Commerce; daughter-in-law, and husband, Jeri Adams, and Ken, of Franklin, Tenn.; former wife, Betty Adams of Greenville; grandchildren, Jennifer Adams of Franklin, Tenn., Mandie Carson of Franklin, Laurie Kate Carson of Franklin, Marc Smoot of Paris, Adam Smoot of Paris, Trent Hemphill of Commerce, Bailey Abell of Commerce, Brittany Morris of Cooper and Brooke Foley of Cooper; great-grandchild, Brayden Morris of Cooper; sister and brother-in-law, Sidgel and Les Minter of Beckville, and their children, Pat Lewis and Junior Minter; and several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mac Poole, Don Zachery, Art Burns, John Gilmer, Weldon
Wallace, John Scott, Claud Pippen, David “Hollywood” Allen, Trent Hemphill, Marc Smoot, Adam Smoot, Junior Minter, Leslie Butler, Bull Butler and Wendell Adams.
