Local golfers play in parent/child tourney

Area young golfers and their parents took part in the 2009 Parent Child Golf Tournament on Monday at Paris Golf and Country Club.
In the championship flight, Matt Bawcum and his father, Chandler Bawcum, took first, while L.D. Clark and Chris Clark came in second. Jesse Durham and Daniel Durham finished third.
In the first flight, Brent Napier and Tanner Napier won, Max McGraw and Ed McGraw were second, and Joel Wofford and Paul Bayer came in third.
Jared Shelton and Jack McDowell won the second flight, while Rick Spann and Ricky Spann finished third. Greg Winn and Keefer Winn were third.
Tony Bowden and son, Tanner Bowden, won the third flight, and Ben White and Bailey White were second ahead of Mike Bass and Bryce Bass.
Ron Knight and Grant McDowell won the fourth flight, while Gary Young and Zane Young were second ahead of Jim Heavner and Mitchell Lacy.
Chase Pasternak wins
Ark-La-Tex tourney
VAN ZANDT — Chase Pasternak of Paris shot a 79 on Monday to win the 12-13 year-old boys flight in the Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tournament at Van Zandt Country Club.
Pasternak finished two strokes ahead of runner-up James Davis of Hooks. Texarkana’s Russell Thomas shot a 90 to finish third in the 12-13 age group.
The next Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tournament will be Thursday at Southern Hills Country Club in Gladewater.
