PARIS HIGH GAME NOTES: In the final game at 68-year-old Noyes Stadium, Paris High hopes its run at the historic stadium ends on high note. The Wildcats have already clinched a playoff berth and are averaging 403.7 yards and 49 points a game in district play, while allowing 9.3 points and 144 yards a contest. Paris High has been hitting on all cylinders on both sides of the football. On offense, Tyrell Smith and Aaron Ethridge have been a potent 1-2 rushng duo. Smith has a team-high 696 yards rushing on 96 carries and seven touchdowns. Ethridge scored four touchdowns last week against Anna and has 11 rushing touchdowns on the season to go with 530 yards on 78 carries. Sophomore QB Corban Taylor has completed 82 of 148 passes for 1,310 yards and 15 touchdowns, while throwing six interceptions. Sophomore WR Tavarius Williams has 24 catches for 494 yards and six touchdowns, while Smith has 19 for 303 and three scores. Dominique Mitchell has 16 for 225 and Darian Jones has 10 for 121. Defensively, DE Cedarius Hill leads the team in tackles with 75, including a team-high 11 tackles for loss. Senior FS Mitchell has 61 tackles, and sophomore LB Brandon Ortega has 53 tackles, while junior. Paris has picked off 13 passes, with Cory Battle, Kendall King and Equettis Jenkins each getting three. King and Battle have scored touchdowns off interceptions.

BONHAM GAME NOTES: The Warriors gave North Lamar a scare last week before falling, 21-14, and remaining winless on the season. Bonham QB Kyle Washington threw two touchdown passes in that game and also rushed for 86 yards on 14 carries. He was 8 of 22 passing for 72 yards.

VAN ALSTYNE (8-0, 3-0) AT NORTH LAMAR (2-6, 2-1)

NORTH LAMAR NOTES: North Lamar’s two victories this season were Anna and Bonham, which have a combined record of 2-14. A win over Van Alstyne would validate those wins and prove the pundits wrong...A playoff berth would be secured for North Lamar by a win and a Commerce loss. Meanwhile, a North Lamar loss and Commerce win would make next week’s meeting between the two teams a very important one...Junior DB Tanner Goff intercepted two passes in this past week’s game against Commerce, which boosted him to first on the team in interceptions. Goff was the first Panther player to pick off two passes in one game since T.J. Shirley did it in this past season’s game against Commerce...Junior RB Dakota Boles needs only 59 yards to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark. He also has seven rushing touchdowns and has accounted for 42 of North Lamar’s 112 points it has scored this season...Senior QB Ryan White will get the starting nod once again this week after completing 2 of 7 passes for 67 yards. He also led the team on its game-winning, fourth-quarter drive during that game. For the season, he has completed 13 of 37 yards for four touchdowns. He has also thrown two interceptions...T.J. Shirley, Will Harrington and Dominic Corpus led the team in tackles in this past week’s game with six apiece. Shirley leads the team in tackles with 73.

VAN ALSTYNE NOTES: Van Alstyne nabbed a 28-26 win in this past season’s clash between the two teams after stopping North Lamar RB Patrick Thomas on a potential game-tying two-point conversion. QB Jake Willingham, a senior on that Van Alstyne team, accounted for 315 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns in the game...QB Chris Burge leads Van Alstyne’s spread offense into Friday’s game. Burge has completed 102 of 166 passes this season for 1,833 yards for 18 touchdowns. He has also thrown seven interceptions. He is coming off a 48-24 win over Commerce in which he accounted for 369 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. RB Orion Thomas rushed for 140 yards in that game, while WR Soloman Biscarro had three receptions for 127 yards...Van Alstyne will be seeking a victory in the game so it can secure a playoff spot and enter next week’s game against Paris with its flawless District 10-3A record still in tact...In two games against common opponents, Van Alstyne and North Lamar have had similar outcomes. Van Alstyne defeated Anna 28-7, while North Lamar defeated Anna 28-0. Against Bonham, Van Alstyne claimed a 15-7 win while North Lamar posted a 21-7 win.

HOOKS (4-4, 4-1) AT PRAIRILAND (8-0, 5-0)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m.

LAST MEETING: Prairiland 20, at Hooks 8 (2008)

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Prairiland — QB Payne Schuelke, WR Tanner Connot, WR Zach McLamore, RB Randal Sessums, CB Justin Harris, LB Jay McKinney, RB Josh Esch. Hooks — QB Deon Wright, LB Daniel Godfrey, WR Chris Campbell, WR Deonta Henderson, DE Ryan Godfrey.

GAME NOTES: Prairiland concludes its regular season with games against the District 12-2A playoff teams, as the team hosts the Hooks Hornets this week before ending the season on the road against Paul Pewitt...The Patriots will be hoping for continued success in their final two games. Their offense has posted impressive numbers so far this season. RB Randal Sessums has had 153 carries for 1,180 yards this season, which averages 7.71 yards per carry, to go along with 14 touchdowns. QB Payne Schuelke, who missed the first two games of the season because of a separated shoulder, has completed 51 of 89 passes for 821 yards and 11 touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Prairiland defense has also held up its end of the bargain and has surrendered only 48 points through eight games this season. That includes four shutouts...Hooks has turned its season around since it began its District 12-2A slate. The Hornets began their season with three losses against New Diana, Pleasant Grove and Elysian Fields, with two of those teams (New Diana and Pleasant Grove) having lost only two games so far this season. Since then, the Hornets’ only setback was against Paul Pewitt...Regarding the playoffs, Hooks will enter as the Division I representative from the district. Prairiland and Paul Pewitt will be the Division II representatives.

PAUL PEWITT (6-2, 5-0) AT CLARKSVILLE (3-5, 1-4)

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Paul Pewitt: QB Jordan McFarland, LB, FS Jerome Whetsone. Jacob Marton. Clarksville - LB Trea O’Neal, DL Josh Burks, QB H.B. Rosser, RB Radonta Edwards, RB Quan Bell, WR/DB Jarold McPherson, WR/DB Devonta Shavers.

GAME NOTES: Out of the playoff race, Clarksville has a chance to deal Paul Pewitt its first district loss since 2007. The Brahamas have won 14 consecutive district games dating back to the 2007 season. Their last loss came against Daingerfield in Week 9 of that year.…Clarksville sophomore QB H.B. Rosser has 1,002 yards total offense. He has rushed for 734 yards on 131 carries and scored a team-high 10 touchdowns. Radonte Edwards has caught 14 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 384 yards on 61 carries and scored three times. Clarksville is averaging 241.3 yards a game and allowing 313.6.

CHISUM (5-3, 2-3) AT RIVERCREST (2-6, 1-4)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m.

LAST MEETING: at Chisum 40, Rivercrest 14 (2008)

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Rivercrest — QB Brady Kennedy, RB Jordan White, WR Luke Wright, WR Jacob Wright, DB Michael Strunc, LB Dustin Gentry, OL Garret Anderson. Chisum — QB Jeremy Eddington, QB/DB Sloan Moss, TE Tyler Jeffery, C Aaron Arnold, OL/DE Kyle Hasley, OL/LB Stephen North, WR/LB Kolton Porter.

GAME NOTES: Both Chisum and Rivercrest lost last week and were eliminated from the playoff picture. The Mustangs are averaging 337 yards and allowing 231 a game this season. Senior QB Jeremy Eddington has 1,775 yards total offense. He has rushed for 1,256 yards and 16 touchdowns on only 139 carries, while junior T.J. Briscoe has 358 yards on 57 carries and scored four times. Senior Kolton Porter has 10 catches fror 157 yards, while senior Zach Millsap has nine for 68, ad Tyler Jeffery has eight for 70. Defensively, LB Brian Glover had 14 tackles against Prairiland last week and leads the team with 56 total tackles. LB Kyle Hasley has 55 total tackles and leads the team in tackles for loss with 17 and sackes with four.…Rivercrest junior QB Brady Kennedy has 1,579 yards total offense. He has passed for 1,099 yards (70-146-6) and seven touchdowns, while rushing for 480 yards on 107 carries and scored seven times. RB Jordan White has 85 carries for 498 yards and four touchdowns…Sophomore brothers Luke and Jacob Wright lead the team in receiving with 17 catches each. Jacob Wright has 378 yards receiving and four touchdowns, while Luke Wright has 134 yards. LB Garrett Anderson has a team-high 69 total tackles, while DB Kyle McClullar has 57 total tackles.

HONEY GROVE (3-5, 2-3) AT WHITEWRIGHT (1-7, 1-4)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m.

LAST MEETING: at Honey Grove 62, Whitewright 13 (2008)

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Honey Grove — RB Zack Patt, OL/DL Chris Gilbert, QB Dillon Baugh, WR Courtland Finney, TE/LB Ben Caldwell. Whitewright — WR Chris Bearden, OL Bo Tate, HB Mark Gudgel, LB Taylor Robinson, QB Hamilton Luper.

GAME NOTES: The young Honey Grove squad will be hoping to string together its first two-game winning streak of the season with a win against Whitewright on Friday. The Warriors enjoyed one of their best offensive performances of the season in this past Friday’s 34-20 triumph over Howe. Dillon Baugh, Courtland Finney, Zack Patt, Brandarious Brown and Corwin Louis combined to rush for 236 yards in the game. Baugh also passed for 87 yards, including a touchdown strike to WR Dijon Finney. It was the first passing touchdown of the season for Baugh, a sophomore. Jordan Mallicote is the Warriors’ leader in tackles with 73 for the season...Whitewright enjoyed success this past Friday in the form of a 25-19 win over Tom Bean. The win marked their first of the season.

WINNSBORO (4-4, 4-1) AT COOPER (4-4, 2-3)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m.

LAST MEETING: at Winnsboro 34, Cooper 0 (2008)

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Cooper — RB Montrel Roberts, QB Ty Huie, RB Pee Wee Jeffery, DT Holden Jenkins, WR/FS Tommy Walker, LB Chris Ballard, DB Jonathan McGraw. Winnsboro — RB Jordan Massey, QB Christian Besold, RB Nick Parton, OL, Nathan Bullock

GAME NOTES: Cooper needs to win in order to keep its playoff hopes alive. The Bulldogs are coming off an impressive 49-0 shutout of Alba-Golden, while Winnsboro beat Caddo Mills, 35-20 last week…RB Montrel Roberts and Pee Wee Jeffery have carried the rushing load for the Bulldog offense. Roberts has 706 yards rushing on 91 carries and seven touchdowns, while Jeffery has 511 yards on 68 totes and three touchdowns. Chris Ballard has 215 yards, while QB Ty Huie has rushed for 221 yards and passed for 470 yards (39-96-6) and three touchdowns. WR/FS Tommy Walker is getting it done on both sides of the football. He has a team-high 18 catches for 170 yards and a score, and he leads the team in tackles wth 60 after last week’s game in which he recorded a season-high 16 tackles against Alba-Golden. LB Logan Arthur has 44 tackles, while lineman Zach Harrison has 40.

MAUD (5-3, 3-0) AT DETROIT (2-6, 2-1)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m.

LAST MEETING: at Maud 60, Detroit 18

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Detroit - RB/S Deon Patt, FB/LB Chaz Dickerson, RB Cray Dickerson, WR/CB Anthony Eddins, TE/LB Kameron Cashion, WR/DB Kenton Tucker. Maud — QB Jake McClain, WR Duston Brown, DE Brady Johnson, WR/DB Trey Stewart.

GAME NOTES: Detroit continues its quest for a spot in the postseason when it hosts Maud, which currently resides in first place in District 17-A. The Eagles began the season with an 0-5 mark, but they turned that around with back-to-back district victories over Union Hill and Big Sandy. They suffered their first district setback this past Friday in the form of a 27-6 loss against Hawkins. RB Cray Dickerson rushed 13 times for 91 yards in that game, while RB Deon Patt had 14 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown. QB Kenton Tucker struggled, completing only 2 of 9 passes for 22 yards. He also threw three interceptions...Maud, which was a quarterfinalist in the Division II playoffs one season ago, dropped three of its first five games (12-6 loss to Tenaha, 39-15 loss to Linden-Kildare, 42-8 loss to Ore City). Since then, the Cardinals have rebounded. They maintained their flawless district record after a 28-27 win over James Bowie this past Friday.

HUGO (4-4, 2-3) AT BRISTOW (5-3, 2-3)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m.

LAST MEETING: at Hugo 27, at Bristow 14

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Hugo - RB Willie McAlester, QB Ryan Debo, WR Brandarius Lane, TE Chayse Cummins, C Colby Raper, LB Tyler Loflin, LB David Carlile, LB Lee Wolf. Bristow - NA.

GAME NOTES: Hugo is still alive in the race for one of the four playoff berths from District 3A-4, but the Buffaloes need to win this week at Bristow, which is tied for fifth with Hugo in the district at 2-3…The Buffaloes got as dose of confidence last week by pounding Kellyville, 55-13, on homecoming night. Ryan Debo passed for 164 yards and four touchdowns, Patrick Smith caught three of those TD tosses and finished with five for 135, while Willie McAlester gained 139 yards rushing and scored twice. Debo surpassed the 1,000-yard passing mark in that game. He has 1,038 yards passing (83-158-7) and 11 touchdowns. Smith remains atop the RRV receivers with 37 catches for 545 yards and seven touchdowns. Hugo LB’s Tyler Loflin ad David Carlile lead the RRV in tackles with 89 and 79 tackles, respectively.
