Lamar Point event honors the hairy beast

Bigfoot is back, and he’s camping out at Lamar Point.
The best time to catch sight of him is this weekend during the community’s Bigfoot Festival. Those who attend the festival will be able to prove there is a Bigfoot by getting their picture taken with the notorious creature.
The event will open at 6 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday near the Lamar Point Kountry Kubbard.
The hairy beast is the honored guest of the party. To celebrate his appearance, a karaoke Bigfoot Idol Contest is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The contest is divided into junior class (14 and under) and adult class (15 and up), with a trophy and cash prizes awarded. Registration is $10 and contenders can register any time before the contest begins.

Vendors will be on hand, with booth space still available at $10 each. Call the Lamar Point Kountry Kubbard at 903-739-2597 for details on booth spaces.
Local merchants have donated items which will be raffled during the festival, and live entertainment will be on hand.
In addition, there will be games, craft exhibits, food booths, bounce houses and a car show.
Sponsors for the Lamar Point Bigfoot Festival are Harmar Bottling Company, Sara Lee, Lamar Point Kountry Kubbard and other local merchants.
Lamar Point is located north of Paris near Pat Mayse Lake. Take Hwy. 271 north to Farm Road 1499, head west for five miles to Farm Road 1500 then five miles to the Bigfoot Festival.
